JKD Sweden Reunion

Time passes, covid came by and as a result , we have not been able to meet for a couple of years.

Coshe took the initiative to invite us for a dinner tonight, we met down town Stockholm for a lovely dinner at Helenes Krog och Bar Restaurant where the food and the atmosphere are amazing. It was such a joy to meet some members of our original team again, Coshe and Michel. We had only good memories to share and we spent the evening remembering some good times together, Coshe also surprised Mikael with a birthday celebration.

As we all agreed, we need to keep in touch and meet more often and plan for a session , not only is it a priviledge to train JKD together but it is a much needed feel good moment. We all appreciate the teachings of Mikael and the time he spent on our training and we all agree that he gave us all the tools and the basis for us to evolve and find our own path.

As I have written many times before, JKD changed my life , not only the art but the team and the people we met through it. We have travelled and met some amazing people within the JKD and Bruce Lee family and friends, this is precious to me and will always be one of the best things that happenned to me. Meeting with Coshe and Michel tonight revived the feeling and made me think about all this again and how important it is to keep it alive.

We are the original JKD training team in Sweden under Ted Wong and this is very important to me. Our members are genuine people , we are not about fame or recognition, we appreciate each other greatly and have always been a solid and serious team, we simply are who we are and we have created our own path.

Although we do not have the structure or possibility to start with new students and regular training right now, we all agreed that this should not stop us from meeting and train together whenever it is possible, because again, this team is amazing !

Thank you all for this great dinner and see you all very soon !

Thank you also Savannah, my step daughter ( Mikael´s daughter ) our beautiful ballerina who knows so well what hard training is and who is such an inspiration for her dedication and talent. She is such a good example of what you can do when you put your mind and body into it and dedicate yourself to succeed.

Birthday !

Bruce Lee would have turned 79 today .

There are always some discussions about who knows better or more about him but I think that no matter what,  Bruce Lee is a name you cannot forget, so let be those who only know the actor and still adore him for that.

The most important is that he is not forgotten, remember that we are  46 years after his death!

He left a mark on different kind of people , those who know the most about his art or the man that he was in life and those who know most about his movies and his appearances on screen.

I am part of the JKD world and very happy for it, but I started as a Bruce Lee- the actor fan and most of my family and friends from France only know him for that.

Bruce Lee was more than one man, he was also an actor and he worked very hard to get there and be recognized for it.

I do not judge people not knowing about JKD, I am always happy when someone asks me what kind of martial art I do and when  I answer JKD, most don´t know what it is but as soon as I say “ the art of Bruce Lee” all people, and I mean ALL people , younger or older respond : ” OH wow !”. That does not only make me proud of what I do, that makes me happy that people still know and still are impressed by Bruce 🙂

I really hope there will be an event next year for the 80th birthday in San Francisco, we were there 9 years ago for the 70th,  I would love to go back  🙂 I miss SF and this time I hope at least one word comes out of my mouth if I get the chance to meet Linda again 🙂

TED WONG

I remember the first time I met Ted Wong was in 2004 during a seminar that Stefan Nikander arranged in Nynäshamn, Sweden.

2 days of the hardest training I had done so far in my life, after the first day I thought I would not be able to get out of the bed !

I remember being very impressed and blown away by the fact that I was meeting him and by the man that he was.

He was incredibly kind , strong and in control of himself, I was telling myself all the time, “I can´t believe I am here ! “

Not only was that day a turning point in my life,  it was one of the best days ever. I felt very honoured and blessed .

I have written before about that day so I won´t do it again, but that is when I met Mikael for the first time. After that I became Mikael´s private student and  we created JKD SWEDEN

A lot of things happenned after that, more seminars, meeting Allen Joe, (<3 )  and later we started  traveling to San francisco.

We´ve met amazing people during seminars and our travels, Jeff and Julie Chinn took us everywhere in SF, Allen and Annie welcomed us in their home, I had the incredible honour of meeting Linda Lee Cadwell at Bruce Lee´s 70th birthday on SF in 2010

And so on…

These are some of the incredible things that happenned to me following the day I met Ted Wong,  and on top of it JKD changed me as a person to a better one.

I wish I could have told Ted about the impact he had but I assume he knew,  because I am far from being the only one he did that to !

Ted left us in 2010,  when we arrived in SF for Bruce´s 70th Birthday party we could not find Ted and we talked to Allen who told us he was in the hospital .

Stefan joined him in 2011, then Allen in 2018 and Annie in 2019 .

Heaven took them all but I am sure they are reunited with Bruce now

May they all rest in peace .

Annie Joe

I remember meeting Annie for the first time, I thought she was such a fun and energetic woman, I remember wishing I would be like her when I am her age.

Meeting Allen was a big thing in my life, the fact he was Bruce Lee´s friend attracted a lot of people but I really liked him for him , for the man he was , for the fact that he was so kind and smart and had accomplished so many great things.

He was the kindest man on earth, he  opened his home to anyone who wanted to meet him, who wanted a piece of his history with Bruce Lee, or Ted Wong

I have been very sad after his passing and I have been wondering how Annie would manage.

Of course they have a big family so there is no problem but it can´t be easy  because  Allen and Annie were together for so many years.

I am thinking about her just as much as I was thinking about Allen every day and I hope we will be able to come visit very soon

I miss them and I miss San Francisco, my favorite town on earth, it won´t be the same without meeting Allen but we will pay our respects.

Until we meet again
