Our team, Short Presentation

Remy, Michel, Coshe and I,  first met at Stefan Nikander´s school in Stockholm in 2004. Stefan is the  JKD  Head Instructor in Scandinavia, he is certified by Ted Wong. Because of his illness, Stefan closed the school in Stockholm and  openned another one  in Nynäshamn where he lives. In 2005 I started to train privately with Micke and the guys joined us.

Let´s start with Coshe who just left us to move to the US for a while, Okan-Coskun  Akdag is currently living in Los Angeles were he is studying the film Industry. Coshe is always in a good mood, always trying flashy moves and training hard until he pukes ! no puking no fun !

Michel our team mate who is well known for always being  on time 🙂 Michel  Curpurdija has joined us at the same time as Coshe. Michel is the crazy one, like it tough and  joins Coshe in the puking team!

Micke or the Iron Man, trying to hit him is like … well.. it hurts you more than anything else !  On a more serious level , Mikael Egidéus is a very talented JKD instructor, He is certified by Stefan.  Mikael has been training martial arts for over 25 years, he trained  Shaolin Kung Fu for around 10 years and then JKD with  Stefan Nikander for several years before he started as  a JKD instructor having his own school in Uppsala. In 2005 after the Ted Wong Seminar,  he started with another team in stockholm,  first member: me.

I just would like to add that I am proud to be part of this team. My training partners are good friends and I really look forward to many more years of  hard training together. As for myself , I am a small girl trying to keep up with all the big guys:-) As I wrote in another post,  I have been training martial Arts ( JKD only)  since 2004.

2010 Goals

Well, that is easy , be better

SPEED and POWER

Because of my size and weight I need to be faster, I need to have more power in the kicks and punches.

FOOTWORK

This is of course the key for everything, good fotwork and TIMING !

In my dreams I would like to be able to stand in a 3 minutes fight with Micke and get out of there alive ! OK NOT HAPPENING ! Would he give 100%,  I would be dead after 5 seconds . I saw myself almost knocked out after less than this,  with only a “touch” as he says! … No but realistically,  I need to be able to defend myself and get out of a fight against strong men like him and I want to work on this.

Have more STABILITY and FLUIDITY in the fights  and see Michel or Remy fly away from one of my side kicks !

And wish ( or demand )  from the trainer for both Remy and I :

DO the SPLIT before the summer !

And yes one more personal thing :

Running up the stairs….  time to beat : Michel´s time 🙂

Training Overwiew

Apart from Sundays which are dedicated to group training, I have one session a the gym on wednesdays, the rest of the week is mostly own training , I add some variations everyday.

Mondays : I have to say I do not train consequently every monday because most of the time my body is all broken by the sunday session. Some mondays I can´t walk or straighten my arms, first question of the day on mondays:” how is is going with the muscle pain, it hurts ? GOOD !!”  …  But I try to  do some pushups and situps anyway as well as stretching… when I can move at all … So we can leave the Mondays aside.

I don´t have a settled training plan. Thuesday Thursday and Friday are the remaining days for my own training which looks approximately like this:

Stretching, situps, pushups, fotwork, heavy bag, JKD pole, wristroller, shadow boxing, weight lifting, …stretching!

When the swedish weather allows it  some days look a bit different, and biking and running are added especially on saturdays.

There have been some times where I trained less, Sometimes I need to settle down a little bit  and then come back stronger. but at the peak of my condition I hold this schedule quite well.

Looking forward to a better weather now, when the snow disappear we will be able to train outside again… good times to come!
